Spring break is almost here! To wrap up winter we spent more time on time. We are working together to build a big classroom clock, working on identifying numbers, the hands, and counting by fives. There’s a lot to think about when reading a clock, so practice this skill at home! Students who are working on number ID and counting, can count the “big” numbers. Students who know their numbers can practice counting by fives and reading the time. Being able to read a clock is an important life and academic skill, that will give students some independence when following a school or home schedule. It can also help them to feel secure when they know what time to expect certain events.
This week we also got our iPad!!! Because it is a classroom iPad that was funded through DonorsChoose, it is going to be a little bit before we get our apps (hopefully soon though!). However, everyone is already excited. We have been using the camera and photobooth to take funny pictures of everyone. Students love it! Already, everyone is talking so much and are so motivated by the iPad. I am eager to get our apps up and running. We have some cool opportunities coming our way!
I want to spend a minute to talk about the Recess Buddies. This program has been amazing. We have some great fifth graders who have been great friends and role models to our students. We will be taking a celebratory trip on Enrichment Day (May 18) where we will go on a fun outting, have a picnic lunch, and make a Recess Buddies video and yearbook. More details to come!
I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing Spring Break! See you in April!
